All the Single Ladies. Today’s the day. It’s Leap Year, it’s February 29, and now’s the time for  women to propose to the man of their choice.  Also known as Bachelor’s Day, it was originally an Irish tradition that spread through Europe and the US A through the 19th and 20th centuries. If the man refuses, he is supposed to give the spurned one 12 pairs of gloves, presumably to hide the fact that he has not, after all, put a ring on it.

Cats don’t do this sort of thing.
