Happy Birthday Cary Grant

If ever there was a cat in human form it was Cary Grant.
Think about it:
- effortlessly handsome
- suave and sleek
- intelligent
- self-possessed
- charming
- enigmatic
- immaculately dressed for every occasion, even being dive-bombed by a crop-duster.
- born in the Year of the Cat (January 18, 1904) according to Vietnamese zodiac
- had at least 9 lives (acrobat, juggler, vaudeville performer, comedian, stilt walker, escort, stage actor, Hollywood star, business man) ?
So of course he loved cats. Here he is walking his siamese in Beverley Hills. How cool is that
A Bigger Cat
In the 1938 screwball comedy Bringing up Baby (Howard Hawks), Grant plays Professor David Huxley, a pusillanimous palaeontologist in search of funding for his pet project, the reconstruction of a brontosaurus. Mild mannered but gaffe prone Huxley is anxiously schmoozing wealthy dowager Mrs Carleton Random for an endowment of $1 million. All his efforts are frustrated by the very annoying ditzy heiress Susan Vance (Katherine Hepburn), who has fallen for him, although he does not realise it.Things get feral when she introduces him to her pet leopard (Baby). Of course it is all metaphorical (dry old bones versus living magnificent feline) – this is Howard Hawks, you know.
